Introducing myself
I am a psychiatrist by profession. Reading has been my passion since childhood. Translation has been before me ever since I remember, my father being a renowned translator of numerous works from Tamil to English in the classical style. My first translation, published in 2006, was of The Splintered Mind, by Dr Vijay Nagaswamy, as முறிந்த மனங்கள் in Tamil. It was about schizophrenia for the general public. Beginner's luck got me an award from the Tamil Nadu government. Since then I have published translations of Bharati - His Life and Works by Subramania Bharati's brother C. Viswanathan as பாரதியும் அவர் படைப்புகளும் in Tamil and Gnana Paana by the Malayalam poet-seer Poonthanam as ஞானப்பான in Tamil. I have translated several other works, as well as occasional pieces, from English to Tamil and vice versa, yet to be published. In this blog, my intention mainly is to publish my translations and other writings periodically.
